Abstract
Sustainable development of urban transport infrastructure is a challenge for many cities around the world. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) have proven to be a very useful tool in supporting the process of planning, implementing, and monitoring efficient and environmentally friendly transportation systems. This study aims to examine the role of GIS in encouraging the development of sustainable urban transportation infrastructure. This journal uses a qualitative approach with a literature study method. Through literature studies and case studies, the journal explains how GIS can be leveraged to identify transportation needs, plan road and transit networks, evaluate environmental impacts, and monitor the performance and utility of transportation systems. In addition, this journal also discusses the potential for GIS development through integration with other technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and big data analytics. The conclusion emphasizes the importance of comprehensive GIS utilization to support the sustainable development of urban transportation infrastructure in the future.
